Keep Your Crews Focused on the Job

Your crews start the day with assignments to complete. Then a portable message sign needs attention, someone has to drive out, and the schedule changes.

One visit may be easy to absorb. When the same pattern repeats across several signs and jobsites, it can become a larger operational problem. The question is how much of your team’s day is being redirected to keep equipment ready.

What happens after an unscheduled stop?

A service visit starts before anyone reaches the sign. Someone has to coordinate the trip, gather equipment, and leave another assignment. Travel and troubleshooting take time, and a return trip may be necessary if the right parts are not available.

For a public works department, roadway contractor, rental fleet, or emergency response team, those interruptions can make an already busy schedule harder to manage.

The cost of a replacement battery is easy to see on an invoice. The work postponed while a crew handles the problem can be harder to track.

Look at the pattern across your fleet

Before approving another round of replacements, look back at your recent service history:

  • How often are crews returning to the same signs?
  • How many miles and staff hours do those visits require?
  • Which visits are routine checks, and which are unexpected problems?
  • What other assignments are delayed while equipment is being serviced?

Looking at these questions together gives you a clearer picture of what your current approach requires. It also gives your team a useful starting point for planning ahead of the colder months.

Make time for a different conversation

If repeat visits have become part of your routine, tell AMSIG what you are experiencing. Share which signs you operate, where they are deployed, and what keeps bringing your crews back.

Our sales team can discuss available options for your equipment and help you consider your next step. Start that conversation before the next replacement purchase or unexpected trip.
